I wouldn't say I liked it in the 90s/00s when quotes were optional, and I don't like it now. My only REAL reason is consistency. Also, having written parsers and DSLs over the years, rules like "require quotes for attributes" make parsing tasks more straightforward and less complex. I know it's a "meh" thing to get excited over, but I don't like it (said in a grumpy old man voice).
